Corruption has been a thorn in the side of development. It has been slowly corroding the society since long causing hindrances to proper administrative ruling. With government organisations being infiltrated by a section of immoral and unscrupulous personnel who prey on the common man to fulfil their vested interests, it is high time that graft-free administration is set up.
In that continuation there is encouraging news for the people as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has vowed to build a corruption-free administrative system in the country, according to a report published in this daily. If such is the case then it would be prudent to sift out the unruly and corrupt officials who take advantage of their position and tread over the head of the common man.
This calls for an overseer of all government officials who
will take matters in their hands directly and answer only
to the Prime Minister with adequate buffer systems
preventing them from being influenced by government officials
In the circumstances one cannot but help assume that there is a lack of integrity amongst a section of government officials who have repeatedly failed to adhere to the oath they have taken to serve the people. But, in reality it is as though the expression has been reversed and it has become job of the common people to serve and fulfil the desires of the government officials if they need to get anything done in the country.
