PM thanks div commissioner for COVID-19-free Rajshahi

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a video conference attended from the Goonobhaban in the capital on Tuesday thanked Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Humayun Kabir Khandker as no patient by being attacked with coronavirus has so far been detected in the eight districts of the division.  

In the video conference, Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandker informed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that he wants to give her a good news which is none of coronavirus infected patient has so far been detected in any district of Rajshahi division. Samples (of swabs and sputum) of six suspected patients were sent to IEDCR in Dhaka for testing, but the reports found negative. He said, if necessary, 1,680 beds have been kept prepared in hospitals to treat possible corona patients in future and 5,000 PPEs have been kept preserved for use in the division.  The Divisional Commissioner informed, already 921 metric tonnes of rice have already been distributed among distressed people of the division and at present 2,400 metric tonnes of rice and Taka 81 lakh in cash remained stored in the division and needy people of the division will be supplied with food for next six to seven months, if necessary.  

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked the Divisional Commissioner and said, if necessary she would send more money and food for the poor people. The Prime Minister also talked with RCC Mayor AHM Khariuzzmaman Liton, Rajshahi MP Fazley Hossain Badsha and Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque.

The video conference was attended, among others, by DIG of Police, Rajshahi range. AKM Hafiz Akhter, RMP Commissioner Humayun Kabir, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahidullah and Civil Surgeon of Rajshahi Dr. Enamul Haque.
