A caring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday personally spoke to wicket-keeper Liton Das and batsman Nayeem Hasan, the two concussed Bangladesh players who were hit on their helmets by bouncers from Indian pacer Mohd Shami during the day-night Test in Kolkata, to know about their condition.
Liton went for a CT scan at a city hospital while Nayeem also had his MRI done after being hit on the helmets on the first day of the Test at Eden Gardens .
Hasina, who was present at the Eden for the historic Test and rang the bell along with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, called Liton and Nayeem to her lower tier hospitality box to enquire ask about their condition, sources said.
Liton has been ruled out of participation in rest of the Kolkata Test and replaced by Mehidy Hasan Miraj who however will be allowed to only bat and not bowl, as per ICC rules.
Liton was looking in good form when a quick Shami delivery struck on his helmet. He took off his helmet immediately and looked at the bowler who walked up to apologise.
The physiotherapist of Bangladesh team had attended on Liton as per the latest ICC concussion protocols.
Liton had continued batting for some more time after the incident but at supper break, he walked off and later retired hurt.
Liton scored a brisk 24 to show some fight after all Bangladesh batsmen were laid low by Indian pacers.
Nayeem, playing his first match of the two-Test series, scored 19 and was hit on the helmet just after tea.
