Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emphasized the need for giving the students a modern technology-based education to make them prepared to face the ever changing trends of the era. Her comments came during the inauguration of the free textbook distribution programme and receiving the results of this year’s Primary Education Completion (PEC), Ebtedayee, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) and equivalent examinations.

The current government views education not only as a basic right, but as an asset of the country. Moreover, the authorities believe that technological education is a highly needed skill in this day and age. The government has taken up initiatives to create skilled human resources for building a digital country. They have planned a number of high level training workshops to create skilled workers to transform the economy into an intellect based one.

Like Japan, many of the developed nations are now facing a shortage of labor. With an aging population, these countries will soon become dependent on migrant workers to sustain their economical development.

Therefore, Bangladesh must invest in proper training of specialized labor to be able to fulfill this demand of migrant workers in foreign countries. This will become a very lucrative source of foreign income for the country if we can capitalize on this opportunity.

Developing countries in Asia are already rapidly building up their skilled labor pools. Creating skilled labor requires a prolonged period of training and experience. Therefore, the government must allocate sufficient funds for the youths of each and every district.

With the rise of the fourth industrial revolution, the people of the country must adapt and become skilled in various fields. The development of our country depends on us being able to produce highly skilled workers for both domestic industries as well as foreign industries.
