The bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chinese President Xi Jinping took place on August 23 at 6.30 pm local time at Sandton Hilton Hotel, Johannesburg South Africa.
The last meeting between these two leaders was held in the year 2019. After the Covid pandemic, these two leaders are meeting for the first time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed Bangladesh’s willingness to join BRICS and seek China’s support for making it a reality during the meeting. As China is Bangladesh’s trusted development partner and both the countries share an age-old diplomatic relationship, both the leaders will discuss how to strengthen this relationship between these two countries.
Bangladesh shall also discuss the importance of regional peace and stability, enhanced trade and investment and loan issues with the Chinese President in Johannesburg, South Africa in the meeting.
