Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Kaikaus has visited the project area of Bay Terminal, one of the largest development projects of Chittagong Port Authority. He visited the project area on Friday morning.
Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury and Chairman of the Port Authority Rear Admiral M Shahjahan were present on the occasion.
Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus said, "The Bay Terminal is being implemented because the Prime Minister has dreamed of it. Several developments, including the implementation of the ring road, have changed the picture of the whole area. No one has ever seen such a big dream before. '
CPA Chairman said, ‘The Bay Terminal is a priority project of the Prime Minister. We have received the final decision of the Prime Minister to implement it. We will now take the project forward by hiring a consultant as soon as possible. '
After inspecting the project area, Chief Hydrographer Commander M Arifur Rahman, Deputy Manager (Land) Zillur Rahman, Executive Engineer Rafiul Alam presented the hydrographic information, land acquisition and detail design of the Bay Terminal.
It was informed at the time that although Bangladesh is a disaster prone country, there is no such risk in the project area of the Bay Terminal. Which has come up in the feasibility study. Depending on the tide at the port's current jetty, ships will be able to operate at the Bay Terminal 24 hours a day and four ships simultaneously on the Channel. Investment in multipurpose terminals will rise in 8.5 years of three terminals and investment in container terminals in 11.5 years. Apart from all other facilities keeping in view the future demand, construction of truck terminal and separate delivery yard is also planned.
