We applaud Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for presenting timely directives as a successful statesman before the world leaders at the G20 Summit in Indian capital New Delhi. Her speech for establishing world peace through building friendly and humanitarian relations and stopping war and conflicts has touched the world leaders. Though world leaders talk of one world, one family, are they doing anything to show it, Sheikh Hasina posed a question before the world leaders?

Every night, over 800 million people, or 10 percent of global population, go hungry. Whereas, the world annually spends on military $1.9 trillion, only 5.5 billion for 26 hours of military spending, could ensure food for the most vulnerable.

As a successful statesman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also presented the formula to resolve the crisis period before the world leaders. She also identified war, arms race, the exercise of power, and conflict of interest as the main impediments to establishing world peace and ensuring the emancipation of mankind.

The world leaders must take bold, concrete and

concerted actions to ensure global peace and

stability for greater

benefit of humanity

She called for building a peaceful and sustainable world resolving crisis and conflict through mutual talks, and shunning the antagonist path of imposing forceful economic sanctions and counter-sanctions. The call of Bangabandhu’s daughter draws a vision for world peace and emancipation of mankind as her speech echoed the essence of establishing rights and dignity of repressed and deprived people of the world.

In the summit, the G20 leaders discussed and tried find solutions to several key global issues including digital transformation, climate financing, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), food security, the economic and social impacts of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and increasing the capacity of multilateral development banks. The G20 and international financial institutions will have to play crucial role while Bangladesh is ready to support their efforts for tailoring actionable recommendations to tackle the crisis.

The world leaders should pay heed to Sheikh Hasina’s call and come up with utmost sincerity to ensure a dignified life and prosperous future for all. The world leaders must take bold, concrete and concerted actions to ensure global peace and stability for greater benefit of humanity.
