Deeply saddened by the brutal murder of a Buet student, the ruling high command ordered for taking tough action against killers of Abrar Farhad, a BUET student. Abrar Fahad, 22, a second-year-student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department and a resident of Sher-E-Bangla hall was beaten to death allegedly by some BCL activists of the university campus on early Monday sending a wave of shock message across the country.
Immediately after the barbaric murder of Abrar, the government high command asked Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to take organisational and legal action against those who are involved in such gruesome killing.
The high command became extremely furious following the latest criminal activities of some of the BCL students. In the wake of massive criticism from different quarters, the uncontrolled leaders and workers of BCL are going to face the wrath of an annoyed and unhappy high command.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Tuesday termed Abrar murder a barbaric act, warning that none will be spared who would be found involved in the killing. He reminded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s zero tolerance policy against such unlawful activities.
“Whatever may be the identity of the killers of the Buet student, it does not matter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And their exemplary punishment will be ensured on the soil of the country,” he told reporters at Akhaura railway station Elsewhere, talking to journalists on Tuesday Obaidul Quader, also Awami League General Secretary, said as per the government high command’s drastic order nobody, either in the BCL or other organisations, will be spared if found involved in the brutal murder.
He informed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in hard line against some leaders and workers of her party. He further mentioned that legal actions have already been taken against perpetrators involved in the killing of Buet student Abrar Fahad. He stressed that PM is firm in her stance and that is why around thirteen people have been arrested in connection with the killing, Quader told reporters.
“Not only thirteen people have been arrested, around 11 people more have been expelled from Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on instructions from high-level,’’ Quader added. According to the party sources, the issue of activities of some BCL leaders was also raised in the party’s unscheduled meeting, saying some student wing’s leaders’ behavior was tarnishing party image and they should be controlled for the sake of the party.
Several other senior leaders also criticised activities of some students such as extortion, mugging and humiliating other students on different public university campuses. The party insiders said the prime minister harshly criticized the wayward student leaders over their lifestyle, saying she was aware of their lifestyle.
