Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered full support for the treatment of legend Andrew Kishore’s cancer treatment.

Deputy Press Secretary of Prime Minister Ashraful Alam Khokon confirmed the matter on Sunday.

National Film Award-winning singer Andrew Kishore is currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital. He left for Singapore on September 9 for advanced treatment. His body was diagnosed with cancer on September 18 following various tests.

Ashraful Alam Khokon said the Bangladesh Embassy in Singapore has already been instructed to monitor the whole matter of the artiste’s treatment. The Prime Minister is overseeing it herself.

Andrew Kishore was supposed to return to the country after finishing treatment in late February. But he is not returning home then. Doctors say Andrew Kishore will need 24 chemotherapy in six cycles. Already, he has completed 16 chemotherapies in 4 cycles. The first chemotherapy of the fifth cycle has also been completed. Still 7 chemo are left.

Andrew Kishor's disciple vocalist Momin Biswas said that Andrew Kishore's chemotherapy was stopped due to various physical problems. “The doctors told us that all chemotherapies would be finished by the end of February. Then he can return home. But for the past month, chemo has been stopped due to various complications of his body. Chemotherapy is not possible if the body's problems are not resolved,” he added.

“But now regular treatment is underway. I hoped to be able to bring Dada home in late February. That is not possible. Everyone pray for him so that he can soon recover and return home,” said Momin Biswas.
