Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said the Prime Minister has her own sources as well as reports from various outfits on the irregularities and corruption of the party leaders. None will be spared if allegations of irregularities and corruption against the leaders are found true, Quader further said.
Obaidul Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, said this while addressing newsmen following a meeting on ‘Directives and opinions on the ongoing and future activities of the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC)’ at the BRTC office. Citing media reports about corruption in BRTC, the minister said, “Those who are involved in corruption and misdeeds won’t be spared, no matter how powerful they are. The Prime Minister has adopted a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.”
The Minister asked the BRTC authority to investigate whether the ‘defective’ buses were purchased on purpose and if there was any irregularity in the process. Stern action will be taken if irregularities are found in purchasing buses, he warned. He also added that BRTC does not need any corrupt officials.
Replying to a query he said, “Tthe Rangpur-3 constituency is under consideration. This seat was considered for the Jatiya Party. After observation and discussion we will decide.”
