Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday extended her warmest greetings and heartiest felicitations to Han Duck-soo on his appointment as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.
In a felicitation letter to newly appointed Korean premier, the prime minister said, "I, on behalf of the people and the government of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, extended warmest greetings and heartiest felicitations to Han Duck-soo on his appointment as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea".
She hoped that the bonds of friendship, understanding, and cooperation that so happily exist between the two friendly countries will be further strengthened during Han Duck-soo's term in office.
The premier said Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea enjoy excellent bilateral relations based on shared values, mutual respect, and common aspirations.
"Our relationship experienced tremendous growth in depth and dimensions over time", Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Press Wing’s press release quoted Sheikh Hasina as saying.
Mentioning the Republic of Korea as a key economic and development partner of Bangladesh, she said, "In recent years, our bilateral trade and investments have witnessed a substantial expansion leading to an enhanced presence of Korean companies and entities in Bangladesh."
The premier underscored the need for maintaining the current development trajectories of the two countries for a deeper, comprehensive partnership for the benefit of two countries peoples.
With more than a decade of accelerated economic growth and remarkable progress in other key sectors, Bangladesh now offers enormous opportunities to its partners like Korea, she said.
Mentioning that her government is implementing numerous initiatives and mega projects to modernize the country and enhance the economy's competitiveness, she expressed her eagerness to closely working with Han Duck-soo to further consolidate the bilateral ties and advance regional and global issues of common interests.
Sheikh Hasina extended an invitation to the new prime minister to pay a visit to Bangladesh at a mutually convenient schedule with a view to grab an opportunity to jointly identify the common priorities to take the bilateral relation to a new height.
She added, 'I seize this opportunity to wish, Your Excellency, good health, happiness, and continued peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the Republic of Korea."
Sheikh Hasina also extended her heartiest congratulations to Australian Labor Party leader Anthony Norman Albanese on his party's triumph in the federal elections, calling for cooperation in clean energy, maritime security, ocean governance, and blue economy.
In a felicitation letter addressing the Australian leader, she said, "I, on behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf extended heartiest congratulations to Leader of the Australian Labor Party Anthony Norman Albanese, on his Party's victory in the Federal elections."
The prime minister expressed her deep trust mentioning that the victory manifested the Australian people's confidence in the party under Anthony Norman Albanese's stewardship to lead the country towards inclusiveness, peace, and prosperity, said an official release of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Press Wing.
Sheikh Hasina reiterated, "Our relations have deepened, and the ties have become more robust with time through increasing cooperation in diverse areas of trade, economy, culture, and education. We have immense potential for cooperation in clean energy, maritime security, ocean governance, and blue economy."
She recalled with gratitude Australia's bipartisan support towards Bangladesh's independence and generous assistance since establishing diplomatic relations.
As the two countries observe 50 years of friendship, she said, "We shall explore newer areas of mutual interests, complementarities, and interdependence so that our relations may elevate to that of the key partnership."
The two countries can together promote peace and stability in the Indian Ocean region and protect rules-based international order, she said.
The premier added, "I sincerely hope you will visit our country at your earliest convenience to appreciate the strengths of a resurgent Bangladesh as the second Australian Prime Minister after Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, who visited Bangladesh way back in 1975."
Such a high-level interaction will further cement the existing bonds of two countries friendship and help forge a common understanding of matters of bilateral interests and contemporary regional and global issues, she continued.
