PM, family go on 2-day Tungipara visit today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to Tungipara  in Gopalganj on a two-day visit today, to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, after being re-elected president of the ruling Awami League for the tenth consecutive time.

Along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and other family members, the Prime Minister will leave for Tungipara Friday morning by road from Dhaka. 

Sources said, on reaching Tungipara, the Prime Minister and her family members will first pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his graveyard. 

Later, they will also offer special prayers dedicated to Bangabandhu and his family members seeking forgiveness for their departed souls. 

According to sources in the Awami League, the Prime Minister and her family members will stay Friday night at Tungipara. 

On Saturday morning, Sheikh Hasina will pay tributes again to the Father of the Nation Rahman as president of Awami League along with the leaders of the newly formed central committee of Awami League.

The central Awami League leaders will participate in Fateha reciting programme and special prayers for the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.

The party sources also said that the first extended meeting of the newly formed central executive committee of Awami League will be held at the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over that meeting.

Besides, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 28 development projects of GopalganjSadar, Tungipara and Kotaliparaupazilas.

Centring the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all the preparations have already been taken. 

Extensive security measures have also been taken across the district. Tungipara and Bangabandhu Samadhi Soudha Complex area are under a security blanket.

Tungipara Municipal Awami League President Sheikh Saiful Islam said, " As Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been reelected as the president of Awami League for the tenth time, the leaders and workers of Tungipara and the whole district are happy."

"We all are excited as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming to Tungipara. We want Sheikh Hasina to remain in this position forever. Then the party and the country will benefit", he said.

GM Sahab Uddin Azam, General Secretary of Gopalganj District Awami League, said, "Vibrancy has returned among the leaders and workers of Gopalganj due to the arrival of the Prime Minister. 

Leaders and activists are working alongside law and order forces to ensure the two-day visit of the Prime Minister goes smoothly.
