Plenty of winter veg bring relief

For the second consecutive weeks, prices of all vegetables declined further while prices of fish and chicken also went down.  

On the other hand, prices of rice, pulses, potatoes, spices and meat remained unchanged. 

Visiting the capital's Karwan Bazar, Khilgaon, Santinagar, Rampura, and Badda kitchen markets on Friday, prices of daily essentials were collected. 

In those kitchen markets, bean is selling at Tk 35 to Tk 40 per kilogram (kg), per piece of cauliflower and cabbage is now Tk 30, tomato is selling below Tk 100 per kg, turnip is selling at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg, per piece gourd selling at Tk 40 to Tk 50, string bean is Tk 60 per kg, brinjal is Tk 60 per kg, cucumber is Tk 40 per kg, parwal is Tk 50, papaya is Tk 30 per kg, and carrots are being sold at Tk 80 to Tk 100 per kg as before. 

Rampura kitchen market trader Khairul told this journalist that, "For the last couple of weeks, supply of vegetables has been good enough. For this price has decreased. On the other hand, as local onion stated arriving in the market, it's price is also decreasing." 

In the fish market, it was found that, prices of fishes have also gone down than the previous week. Per kg chital fish was selling at Tk 4500-500 per kg, Awn fish at Tk 600-650 per kg, Rohi is at Tk 180-280 per kg, Katla at Tk 170-280 per kg, Tilapia sold at Tk 120-150 per kg, Boal fish at Tk 700-900, per kg, Pangas is sold at Tk 100-150 per kg, Pabda sold at Tk 280 to Tk 350 per kg, and Shing sold at Tk 250 to Tk 500 per kg (based on quality and size).  

Boiler chicken is being sold at Tk 130 to Tk 140 per kg, layer chicken at Tk 230 to Tk 240 per kg and sonali chicken at Tk 240 to Tk 250 per kg. Beef is selling at Tk 600 and mutton at Tk 800 per kg.    

Per kg sugar is being sold at Tk 62 to Tk 65, Atash rice is at Tk 52 to Tk 53, paijam at Tk 50 to Tk 52, Miniket at Tk 57 to Tk 60, Nazirshail at Tk 55 to Tk 56, and loose edible oil is selling at Tk 105 to Tk 106 per litter.  

Local onions are being sold at Tk 65 to Tk 70 per kg with a reduction of Tk 15 to Tk 20 per kg. Green chili is Tk 80 to Tk 100 per kg.
