‘Pledge for social awakening in July’ observed in Meherpur

A civic event titled ‘Pledge for Social Awakening in July’ was held on Saturday at the Gangni Upazila Parishad conference room in Meherpur, aiming to promote ethical values and inclusive social development.

Organised under the leadership of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Anwar Hossain, the event saw active participation from local administration, professionals and community members. 

Key attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Saddam Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station Bani Israel, former Freedom Fighter Commander Shamsul Alam Sona, Social Services Officer Arshad Ali, Agriculture Officer Imran Hossain, Livestock Officer Mottaleb Ali, Kazipur UP Chairman Alom Hossain, along with journalists and students.

Sharmin S Murshid, Adviser to the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, administered the oath virtually as part of the nationwide ‘Lakho Konthe Shapoth’ (Pledge by a Million Voices) campaign. Participants vowed to build a just, non-violent, poverty-free, compassionate, and egalitarian society.

The programme concluded with a cultural performance, reinforcing the message of moral awakening and social harmony under the broader vision of the ‘July Renaissance’ movement.
