Agriculture Minister Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque has called upon developed nations of the world to play responsible role to ensure food security across the world.

"Bangladesh is an innocent victim of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The price of fertilizers has gone up fourfold, and prices of food grains have increased due to the war. This war has put an impact on food security. I called upon the developed nations to take flexible, adhocracy and prompt steps to mitigate the negative impact," he said.

The minister said these while speaking at the 15th Berlin Conference for Agriculture Ministers in Berlin, Germany on January 21, an official release said Sunday.

The conference was held on the final day of the four-day of 15th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA), organized by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, in his speech, also proposed keeping food and agriculture materials out of war and sanctions.

Narrating the preparations of the Bangladesh government for food security, Dr Razzaque said the present government is working to create a sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture system, which would make food security more sustainable, ensure nutritious food and provide a better life for the farmers.

Additional Secretary Md Ruhul Amin Talukder and Minister Md Saiful Islam of the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin were present at the conference as part of the Bangladesh delegation.
