The government is planning to relax the age limit of 21 months for entry into government jobs, as the recruitment process for various government jobs has been postponed for about a year and a half due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, the final decision will be made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, at present the age limit for entry into government service is 30 years. Job seekers have suffered due to the suspension of recruitment amid pandemic.

In order to compensate them, relaxations are being considered from the beginning of the Corona period till the last month of the current year (March 25, 2020 to December, 2021).

Those whose age has exceeded by 30 years between this period are being considered.

However, the age exemption does not include BCS and other examinations under the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), as it has given various notifications and appointments amid the pandemic period. The Ministry of Public Administration has prepared a summary of a proposal regarding age limit exemption. The proposal could be sent to the PM's office on Monday for approval.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told reporters at the secretariat on Sunday, "We are thinking of setting age limit from March 25 last year to any one month ahead. The number of months will depend on the decision of the prime minister. Therefore, the job seekers will get an exemption of 21 months."

An order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration in September, last year to allow young people to enter government service in Covid-19 period said only those government agencies that had obtained clearance before March 25, 2020, would be eligible for the exemption.
