The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly promote evidence-based and analytical journalism on key economic and development issues in Bangladesh.

The agreement also aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and enhance the professional capacity of media professionals.

The MoU was signed at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Dhaka on Wednesday (September 30).

Dr AKM Nuruzzaman, senior general manager of PKSF, signed the agreement on behalf of the foundation, while ERF General Secretary Abul Kashem signed on behalf of the organisation.

PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, Managing Director Md Fazlul Quader and ERF President Daulat Akter Mala, along with other representatives of both organisations, were present at the signing ceremony.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly organise training programmes and workshops to enhance the knowledge and professional skills of ERF members on issues including sustainable livelihoods, social protection, climate resilience and inclusive development.

The initiative will also facilitate greater access to information about PKSF’s programmes, research, studies, innovations and publications, creating opportunities for media professionals to exchange information and knowledge on these areas.

The organisations will also cooperate in arranging media visits for ERF members to PKSF programmes and field-level activities.

Such visits are expected to provide journalists with first-hand experience of development initiatives, livelihoods and economic activities at the grassroots level, enabling them to better understand and report on development-related issues.
