Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Dinajpur has detained Tajul Islam, Project Implementation Officer of Parbatipur upazila, with Tk. one core 85 lakh. The money was recovered from the office and the residence of the PIO after searching there from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm on Thursday.
A five-member team of ACC of Dinajpur headed by Abu Hena Asikur Rahman, Deputy Director, stormed the office and the residence of the PIO and recovered the said amount of huge money he stored in boxes and in the cabinet. Apart from the members of the ACC team, Executive Magistrate of Dinajpur and NDC Dabiruddin, Parbatipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahnaz Mithun Munni and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman were present during the operation.
Arrested Tajul Islam joined Parbatipur Upazila as the Project Implementation Officer on 1st July 2016. Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman, Deputy Director of Integrated Dinajpur District Anti-Corruption Commission opined that the money was illegally stolen from various development projects in Parbatipur during the last three and a half years. He said the operation was carried out in response to a tip off.
