Bangladeshi photographer Pinu Rahman has once again brought international pride to the country by earning a place in the final round of the globally renowned PhotOlympic 2025. The event will take place this August in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Pinu, who previously won the Best of Nation award at the World Photographic Cup 2019, secured his spot among the top 96 finalists from 387 photographers across 63 countries. His entry, Canvas of the Sand Flight, under the NATURE (Color – Mono Digital) theme, earned significant acclaim and played a key role in his qualification.
Organised by the League of Professional Photographers of Russia and Serbia’s 24 Frame Photographic Community, the PhotOlympic 2025 celebrates cultural heritage through photography. After clearing three tough selection rounds held between January and June this year — with 12 international acceptances and an IAAP Salon Diploma Award — Pinu moves on to the final phase.
Finalists will take part in a seven-day program in Saint Petersburg, featuring two live photo rounds where participants must capture the essence of the historic city within 24 hours. The event will conclude with a global exhibition and the release of an Olympic Almanac, featuring the winning works.
An alumnus of the University of Dhaka and a banker at Rupali Bank, Pinu balances his profession with his passion for photography. His weekends, which he fondly calls Chhobibar, are reserved for photography outings.
To date, Pinu has received over 80 international awards, with his works showcased in galleries and museums across the UK, France, Greece, Dubai, and beyond. He also serves as a jury member for several global photography contests, further cementing his mark in the international photography arena.
