Pi Day observed at CoU

The Cumilla University Science Club observed the Pi Day on the campus on Monday. 

A rally, led by CoU vice-chancellor Professor Dr. A. F. M. Abdul Moyeen and club president Shakhawat Shawon, was brought out at the campus at around 11:00am to celebrate the occasion. 

According to the approximate Pi value which is 3.14, the day is observed on March 14 around the world. 

The earliest known large-scale celebration of the day was organised in 1988 at San Francisco. On March 12, 2009, the US House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution recognising the day as National Pi day. The day was observed for the first time in Bangladesh in 2006. 

The science based organisation of the university have been observing the day on the campus since 2015. They also started the membership collection for 2022 year on Monday showing respect to Pi Day. 

During the celebrating occasion, VC Professor Abdul Moyeen said, 'organisations like science club have been playing a vital role to create interest in science among students.' 

CoU Science Club Moderator Dr. Abdullah Al Mahbub, Md. Zillur Rahman, Atiqur Rahman, general secretary Md. Nurul Mostafa, teachers and students from different departments, among others, were present at programme.
