The orientation programme for students of the BPEd 2025 academic year was held at the govt. Physical Education College, Barisal on Thursday.
The event took place at 9 a.m. in the college auditorium in Barisal Sadar upazila, welcoming freshers in an atmosphere of motivation and encouragement.
Professor Dr Kazi Rafiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), attended as chief guest and delivered an inspiring speech. He stated,
“Physical education is not merely about keeping the body fit; it is a living classroom of humanity, leadership, self-discipline, and moral values. Education becomes truly meaningful when the strength of the body and the purity of the mind work in harmony.”
He further added, “A true physical educator is not only a champion in sports but also a beacon of ethics and inspiration in society. As future teachers, you must build yourselves with mental strength, moral awareness, and human values—alongside physical ability. A teacher’s influence reaches far beyond the classroom and into every part of society.”
Addressing the students, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to develop character, teamwork, and moral courage alongside academic learning.
“Just as sports build physical strength, honesty and responsibility will build noble character. You are the future’s honest, capable, and exemplary educators,” he said.
The event was also attended by Md Saidul Islam, District Sports Officer of Barisal, along with teachers, staff, and students of the college. After the speeches, the new students were welcomed with flowers.
Overall, the programme served as a vibrant gathering aimed at inspiring discipline, responsibility, and enthusiasm among the new students.
