A photography exhibition featuring rare photographs of country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is under way at Tattya Bhaban on Circuit House Road in the capital.
The exhibition has been jointly organised by Bangladesh Film Archive, Department of Films and Publications (DFP) and Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) marking 44th martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
It is featuring more than 100 photographs which give viewers a glimpse into life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his political career and more.
Information minister Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on August 18.
Photographs showing Sheikh Mujib addressing political rallies, attending party meetings, voting during 1970 election, meeting with foreign leaders and others have been displayed at the exhibition.
A displayed photograph shows Sheikh Mujib giving the historic speech at the then Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Udyan, on March 7, 1971.
Another photograph shows Sheikh Mujib addressing a public rally held at Armanitola playground in 1953.
Sheikh Mujib is seen attending a candidate selection meeting of Jukta Front in 1953 in one photograph, while another shows Sheikh Mujib accepting a report of Qudrat-e-Khuda Education Commission from Dr Md Kudrat-e-Khuda.
A photograph features Sheikh Mujibur Rahman celebrating the founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chattra League with school children while another shows him delivering speech on Radio and TV during Pakistan National Assembly Election held in 1970.
Besides, photographs showing Sheikh Mujib’s meetings with foreign leaders like Cuban leader Fidel Castro and Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi have been displayed at the event.
