Philippines, Gambian Presidents greet Sheikh Hasina

Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos IR, Gambian President Adama Barrow and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin have has congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

In a letter sent to Sheikh Hasina, Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos: "On behalf of the Government of the Philippines, I extend to You my felicitations on Your re-election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh."

He said the Philippines joins other nations that have committed anew to a close partnership with Bangladesh as "We reiterate our desire to strengthen our bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation for the benefit of both our peoples."

The Philippine President ended, saying: "I wish You success as You continue to take on the mandate of leading Your country to further development and progress."

In another letter sent to Sheikh Hasina, Gambian President Adama Barrow: "I have immense pleasure in conveying our warmest congratulations to You on Your recent election on behalf of the government and People of The Gambia and my own behalf."

He added: "I would like to take this opportunity to renew the commitment of the Government of the Republic of The Gambia to continue working closely with the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in many areas of mutual interest for our two countries."

The President ended, saying: "Whilst I wish to reaffirm to You that the Government of The Gambia values the long-standing friendship between the Republic of The Gambia and the People's Republic of Bangladesh."

Besides, ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin wrote to offer her most sincere congratulations on Sheikh Hasina's re-election as Prime Minister of Bangladesh, according to a letter sent to Sheikh Hasina.

She added: "I extend to You my very best wishes for Your success in this important position of great responsibility, and wish the people of Bangladesh prosperity, unity, growth and every success in the coming years."

Doreen Bogdan-Martin Mentioned that over the years the ITU has collaborated with Bangladesh to achieve universal connectivity and a sustainable digital transformation through the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), and the National Broadcasting Authority.

She continued, "I applaud Your country's continued commitment and actions in advancing sustainable development through ICTs and I look forward to our continued cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030."

She went on, "Through my office in Geneva and the ITU Regional office for Asia and the Pacific based in Bangkok, may I assure You of my full support in maintaining the excellent relations between Bangladesh and the ITU."

"We stand ready as ever to assist Your country in any way possible in the field of telecommunications and ITs and look forward to a continued successful collaboration in the future," she ended.
