Farmers of Jashore region have been extremely worried about the pest attacks on their Aman fields.
Lada beetle, Chungi beetle, and Mazra beetle have been added to this time. There is no relief from the pests even by spraying various pesticides.
Farmers say that the sheaf of paddy will come out in a week. Insect infestation has occurred in paddy fields at this time. As a result, there is a risk of crop failure. A number of farmers have complained that there is no cure other than the help of agriculture officials. Agriculture officials, on the other hand, claim that they are monitoring everything. Insect attacks will not cause much damage.
According to the Jashore District Agriculture Extension Department source, Aman paddy has been cultivated in a record amount of land in 6 upazilas of Jashore due to adequate rainfall and favorable weather. The target for aman paddy cultivation this season is 1 lakh 39 thousand 25 hectares of land. Last year the target was 1 lakh 34 thousand 975 hectares. If the weather is good for the whole season, the yield will also exceed the record - such is the hope of the Department of Agriculture.
Farmers in different areas of Jashore said that, large aman paddy fields had been attacked by Lada insects, Mazra insects, Kholpacha, Chungi insects and leaf-rolling insects. Farmers are not able to prevent the attack of these insects even with different pesticides. In many areas, the newly emerged paddy is also turning black.
The agriculture official claimed that normal condition was still prevailing in the aman fields across the district.
