Perform duties with professionalism: IGP

Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Tuesday called upon the field level police officers to perform their duties with vigilance.

He also urged police personnel to maintain professionalism. 

He said legal responsibilities should be performed properly and legally.

The IGP made these remarks while addressing the quarterly conference at Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital Dhaka.  He also directed to investigate all the cases carefully.

Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Md. Atiqul Islam presented the overall crime situation in the conference. Additional IGP (Administration) Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Additional IGP of Special Branch Md. Monirul Islam also addressed the conference.

Additional IGP (Logistics) Md. Mazharul Islam, Additional IGP and PBI head Banaj Kumar Majumder, DIG (Finance) SM Mostak Ahmed Khan, AIG (Health, Welfare and Pension) Md. Nazmul Islam presented various issues related to their respected branches. Additional IGPs, heads of various units of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, all Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and District Superintendents of Police participated in the conference.

The police chief said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh Police is working to maintain law and order in the country. The police force is successfully performing its duties in the fight against militancy and terrorism in the country. 

He said that the law and order situation of the country is improving only through the field level policemen.

Referring to the issue of law and order in the upcoming Durga Puja, the IGP said that the policemen should be vigilant so that the Durga Puja can be observed with religious solemnity.

He said special security measures should also be taken to ensure that no one creates rumors and worsens the law and order situation.

The IGP directed the police officers to carry out their duties by maintaining good relations and coordination with all agencies at the field level.

Reiterating the pledge to make the police station the main place of trust for the police, the IGP said that work should be done to make the police station the main institution for providing police services.

Policemen have to perform their duties with sincerity and dedication so that the people who come to the police station can get the service they expect from the police station. Referring to the welfare of the force, the IGP said that if any policeman needs medical facilities while on duty, the highest level of treatment will be provided in his country or outside the country.
