Hundreds of transport owners and drivers were seen thronging the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) office rooms to collect licences and other valid papers in Kishoreganj on Tuesday.
According to the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), this rise in the entries has been due to the recent transport law for road safety.
Meanwhile, intermediaries become the gainer as the pressure of new licence preparing is continuing.
After visiting the BRTA office, many people were seen at the BRTA office. Many came here to renew their licenses and many came to make new driving licences.
In fact, under the new Road Transport Act, traffic police can file cases with nine several section of the act in which minimum fine was Tk10, 000 and maximum Tk3 lakhs. In the rest of the sections police has been empowered to arrest and send the offender to the court directly.
However, most of the people complain that the new transport law is making big harassment for them; it takes huge time to complete the processing. On the other hand, manpower shortage in BRTA causes an extra hassle.
According to BRTA (Kishoreganj) office, every year more than Tk3 to Tk4 crore revenue has earned. In the meantime, shortage of manpower we can't give the proper support to our customers as a result we've to work from morning to midnight, said, Inspector of BRTA (Kishoreganj) Fayez Ahmed.
