People of northern region throng second-hand warm clothe markets

With the approaching of the winter season, people of Northern region of the country are feeling the bitter-bite of the cold. People of the region have also started to wear warm clothes to get rid of the cold.

In Bera of Pabna district, a large number of old, second-hand warm-cloth traders are seen to sell those clothes at the local hats, markets and beside the footpath. Some of those traders are also selling last-years' unsold new warm clothes alongwith the old, second hand clothes in their shops. 

Saiful Islam Nayan, a second-hand warm cloth trader at Sanila of C&B in Bera informed, they usually purchase bundles of old-warm cloths from the wholesale old-cloth markets in Chittagong. Various types of old-clothes are bundled and marked separately and sold to the customers according to the quality, sizes and types of those clothes. There are separate bundles of sweaters, vests, trousers, coats and jackets.

Abdur Rouf of Bongram of Bera informed second-hand warm cloth traders throughout the country purchased the bales of warm clothes from Chittagong wholesale warm cloth markets. Another second-hand cloth trader Tarek Mia at Kasinathpur Bazaar informed, they purchased the bales or bundles of old, warm clothes from Chittagong. 

After carrying those bundles to their homes, they opened the bundles, sort the clothes according to the quality, size and type. Comparatively good and quality clothes are sorted separately. Some of those are also ironed at home and then sent to the market for selling. Traders further said, many old, warm cloth traders also sell new-warm cloths in their shops. 

Amin Uddin, a second-hand jacket and coat trader at C&B market informed, youngmen who drive motor-bikes are mainly the customers of the jackets. According to the quality, a single piece of second-hand jacket is sold from Taka 500 to 2,000. There is also a demand of old coats from all section of people. A set of old coat is sold at Taka 300 to 700 according to the quality. 

Like the old warm cloth markets, a huge number of people are also seen to crowd the shops of quilts and matressess of the upazila.
