‘People need to be economical in use of electricity’

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has asked consumers to be economical and considerate in their use of electricity.

He made the suggestion in a post on his verified Facebook page on Thursday morning.

The state minister said the demand for electricity is high during Ramadan, summer and irrigation seasons. The power department is working hard to ensure uninterrupted supply after ensuring 100% power supply. In this case he urged the consumers to be moderate and frugal using electricity for the benefit of all.In the post, he also shared a leaflet of the power department titled 'Call to respectable selectricity consumers to be economical in using electricity during the holy month of Ramadan'.

According to the leaflet, the unimaginable progress made in the power sector in the last one century has made it possible to bring all the people of the country under the purview of electricity facility and also increase the power generation capacity as compared to the demand. 

It read that the government is working tirelessly to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. 

This year, the demand for electricity has increased tremendously as the holy month of Ramadan, summer and irrigation season coincide. On the other hand, the current global situation and international fuel prices have risen at an unusual rate.

“During the holy month of Ramadan, the esteemed customers are requested to observe the consider steps to prevent wastage of electricity and to be economical in the use,” wrote the state minister.
