People of the capital city of Dhaka as well as other parts of the country are not coming out of their houses without any emergency or unavoidable necessity as the strict lockdown is being implemented to fight the spread of coronavirus.

On the third day of the “strict lockdown” most of the roads were seen empty. Fewer vehicles were plying on the streets due to the public holiday and the restrictions imposed by the government to control the spread of coronavirus.

The city wore a deserted look comparing to the last two days of lockdown, as almost all government, private offices and factories were closed on Friday.

Most of the people who could be found on the streets, came out to buy necessary commodities or for emergency purposes.

Police personnel were at the checkposts although there was significantly less traffic than the last two days. Some of the checkposts including Fakirapool, Kakrail, Dhaka College, Dhaka City College, Elephant Road and Shahbagh were almost empty. At some places police were seen asking for movement pass from a few vehicles.

Announcements were also made by them on loudspeakers instructing people not to roam around without any necessity or emergency.

After visiting several areas of the capital including Banglamotor, Karwan Bazar, Pragati Sarani, Gulshan, Badda, Hatirjheel, Panthapath, Malibagh, Mirpur Road and Dhanmondi these scenarios could be witnessed.

Apart from a few freight transportations, private cars, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, rickshaws and motorbikes no other vehicles were spotted plying the roads.

However, people were seen gathering for the first 'Jummah' of Ramadan in mosques of different parts of the city.

The government issued a notification imposing new restrictions on transportation and public movement from April 14 to April 21 ordering a shutdown of all offices, including shopping malls, market and restaurants to curb the transmission of Covid-19.
