PCR lab launched in Rangamati

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Lab was formally inaugurated at the ground floor of Rangamati Medical College and Hospital in the town on Thursday. 

Secretary for Rangamati Hill District and Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) Paban Chowdhury inaugurated the PCR Lab as the chief guest. 

In his speech, Paban Chowdhury said Basundhara Group came forward and extended its support with Tk 69 lakhs to set up a PCR Lab in Rangamati to fulfill the demand and burning need of Rangamati’s people in this corona pandemic. 

He urged all to come forward to assist the authority of Rangamati hospital to make it function well as if everyone gets smooth health service from it and no one is left or harassed from its service. 

Setting up of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is not possible at Rangamati district hospital due to lack of adequate manpower, he informed. 

Rangamati Civil Surgeon Dr. Bipas Khisa informed that a total of 200 samples can be test in two shifts in 24-hours in the newly launched PCR lab, and the result can be known within a day. Tests reports from upazilas can also be given within a day, said Bipas. 

In that programme, TK Group donated an ambulance for the district hospital. 

Chairman of Rangamati Hill District Council Brisha Ketu Chakma, deputy commissioner AKM Mamunur Rashid and superintendent of Rangamati police Md. Alamgir Kabir were present in the function.
