PBI in Manikganj unearthed mystery behind a school student murder after 16 years.
Two accused of the murder case have pleaded guilty in a court under Section 164. They made a confessional statement in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Shakil Ahmed on Wednesday afternoon.
The accused are Saiful Islam, 33, son of Abdul Jalil of Baraid village in Saturia upazila and Badal Mia, 30, son of Sona Mia.
The deceased was identified as Sohail Parvez, son of late Habibur Rahman, a school teacher of Uttar Baraid village in Baraid union of Saturia upazila of the district.
Additional Superintendent of Police of Manikganj PBI MKH Jahangir Hossain said the deceased Sohail Parvez was a candidate of SSC examination in 2004. He had also run a poultry farm since 2003. On the afternoon of June 15, 2004, a neighbor named Yunus Ali called Sohail showing greed to buy a motorcycle at a low price and was missing after that day. After two days into his missing, Sohail's family received a letter on June 17 demanding a ransom of Tk 7 lakh.
Later on June 29, Sohail's father filed a case against the four at Saturia police station. The case was later investigated by the police, DB police and CID and a chargesheet was filed against the four on November 14, 2009. The court did not satisfied with the investigation during the trial of the case. The court directed to the PBI, Manikganj for re-investigation on November 24, 2020.
The Add SP said after a long analysis, police arrested Mohammad Yunus Ali, 35 for his alleged involvement in the killing as prime suspect.
“We produced the accused before the judicial Magistrate court seeking 10-day police remand but the court granted a three-day remand for interrogation,” he said.
During interrogation in remand, accused Yunus Ali in his confessional statement, he with the help of Saiful and Badal, suffocated Sohail to death and floated his body in the river.
We have already detected the criminals and masterminds of the killing.” he said adding Saiful Islam, an Ansar member was arrested on Sunday from Narayanganj and Badal Mia from Baraid village in Saturia on Tuesday.
They later gave a confessional statement in court. But another accused in the case is still absconding.
