Patients with cold-related diseases increase in Tarash

Many children and aged people in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj are being recently affected with cold-related diseases including diarrhea.

More than 400 people were admitted with cold and diarrhea diseases in 50-bed Tarash Upazila Hospital in last one week.

Most of the patients are children and aged people, hospital authorities said.

Dr Rumman, residential physician of the hospital, confirmed the matter and said “We have got sufficient capacity to handle the situation. People should not be panicked.”

The children and aged people have been facing immense sufferings as there was a chilling cold in the area for last few days.

Hospital sources said that some 440 people including children and aged people received treatment at the hospital from December 17 to 25. 

Dr Monowar Hossain, an officer of the hospital, said, “The cases of cold-related diarrhea increase in the winter season every year. This year the situation is quite similar to the previous years as a cold wave has been visiting Tarash upazila recently. People should not be panicked as there are enough doctors and nurses to treat the patients in our hospital.”

“Most of the patients are being cured in just three to four days after getting treatment here, he added.

However, he also advised all specially the children and aged people to take extra care to avoid the cold-related diseases.
