The suffering of the patients seems to be increasing day by day at the Manirampur Upazila Health Complex at Manirampur upazila of Jashore. Moreover, as there are no medicines in the hospital, the patients are compelled to buy medicines from a nearby drugstore.

Patients coming to the health complex are suffering due to the lack of medicine supply. The stench of the toilet is unbearable for the patients as well as their relatives. Moreover, the water taps have been broken for a long time, so the damp toilets are spreading germs.

The patients complained that the authorities of the health complex are not concerned about the patients’ sufferings. If they were concerned about it, the patients would not have suffered like this, they added.

Temur Biswas of Mahmudkati village under the Upazila complained that despite staying at the hospital with his one year old boy who was suffering from diarrhea for three days, no medicine was given to the child except liquid saline and Napa syrup.

Rony Hossain of Kashipur village of the same upazila made the same complaint. His five-month-old baby was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for cold-related illness. He complained that one doctor told him to buy some medicines, but another doctor later cancelled all those medicines and prescribed 5-7 new medicines.

Relatives of patients suffering from diarrhea and cold-borne diseases at Monirampur Upazila Health Complex complained that not only medicines for diarrhea and cold-borne diseases, there is no supply of other medicines in the hospital for almost two months. This is how the Monirampur Upazila Health Complex is operating.

Manirampur Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Shubhra Rani Debnath said the hospital do not have all medicines for children suffering from diarrhea and cold-borne diseases. Examining the patient's condition, doctors are providing treatment.

Jashore Civil Surgeon Doctor Sheikh Abu Shaheen said that earlier pharmaceuticals were given to the Upazila Health Complex from the Civil Surgeon's Office. However, now the hospitals buy medicines directly from Dhaka or Bogura on demand. It is not acceptable that not all medicines for children are available at the hospital, he added.
