Streaming app Shadhin is set to launch the country’s first podcast series ‘Patalpur’ for its adult audience.

The streaming app launched on January, bringing thousands of popular songs along with Navid Mahmud’s comedy show and Bhoot.com to the list.

‘Patalpur,’ the first of its kind in Bangladesh, is a thriller audio series based on true-events and is not for the faint hearted.

Shadhin’s CEO Sabirul Haque said that the platform’s main priority was to globalise Bangla songs and they had succeeded.

He said that around 600,000 people all over the world stream Shadhin everyday and the new genre of audio-music thriller ‘Patalpur’ would be a treat for those listeners.

“When I read a book or listen to a song, I create a scenario in my head,” he said before adding that he wants the listeners of ‘Patalpur,’ to be able to do the same.

On Jul 10, ‘Patalpur’s’ teaser was unveiled on Shadin’s Facebook page and has gone viral since then. The adventurous narrative of a murderer describing his crime has already piqued the audience’s interest.

Sabirul said that although the incidents are based on true events, the characters are fictional.

The podcast is set to launch in August, and each season will consist of multiple episodes each an hour long.
