For the first two days of Eid, the rain as well as World Cup games kept most audiences away. But the cinema halls were packed starting from Thursday. The tickets for Shakib Khan’s Eid release ‘Password’ are sold out in all halls and now audiences have to resort to buying tickets off the black market.
The shortage of tickets was apparent when Misha Saudagar and his family, as well as actor Emon went to Madhumita Cinema Hall on Thursday evening. There were no seats for them and a fan from Jatrabari gave up his seats so they could sit. As soon as Misha and Emon entered the hall, fans crowded around them and started taking selfies with them as well as chanting slogans for them. Eventually, the police had to intervene to control the situation.
Misha and his family were taken aback by the devotion of the audience. He said, “I was very happy that the tickets were all sold out. It means the audience is happy with the film. I was truly taken aback when a fan gave up his seats so my family and I could sit. I saw many people sit in extra chairs provided by the hall authorities as the seats had run out.”
However, some fans expressed their frustration over not getting a seat despite paying extra. An audience member named Kamruzzan said that he bought a 150 taka ticket for 400 taka but he still had to sit on an extra chair provided by ticket checkers.
According to an official from Madhumita Cinema Hall, when tickets start selling on the black market it is a sign that the movie is doing well. He said the demand for cinema is very high but there is a lack of good movies. He further added that tickets being sold in the black market is not legal practice.
Shakib Khan’s film ‘Password’ was released in 77 cinema halls across the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The film was jointly produced by Shakib Khan and Mohammad Iqbal and directed by Malek Afsari. ‘Password’ movie screenplay was written by Abdullah Zahir Babu and the film stars Shakib Khan, Bubly, Misha Saudagar and Amit Hasan.
