Passenger pressure up on Dhaka-Ctg highway

Passenger pressure has increased on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj. Passengers are suffering due to the closure of public transport as for the strict restrictions. In this way, people have to walk, search auto rickshaw, pickup and go to the destination. So the passengers have to count the fare several times more than usual.

From Sunday, the factories along with garment industry will be out of strict restrictions. As a result, the pressure of passengers on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has increased rapidly. Especially the crowd of garment workers has . Such a picture was seen at 12 noon on Saturday at the Shimrail and signboard intersection of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Going to the spot, it can be seen that the pickups are carrying extra passengers including people of all ages along with children. Talking to a passenger at the time, he said, "We have to go to Dhaka as the garments are open from Sunday. No car was found as the bus was stopped. So I'm renting a small truck.”

Nusrat Akhter, a garment worker in Shimrail, Siddhirganj, said, "I have come to Kanchpur from Comilla via pickup. I have to start walking. I am looking for a van now.”

Another garment worker by the name of Lokman Mia said at the signboard corner that he got the news of the opening of the factory in the morning. Upon receiving the news, he left Chagalnaiya of Feni. He said, it would have been better if the car (public transport) was running. Thus he came to Chittagong Road. Extra rent has to be paid everywhere.

Kanchpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman said garment workers have started coming to Dhaka due to the opening of garments on Sunday. However, there is no traffic jam on the road.
