Lockdown has been imposed on Ward No. 3 of Bahadurpur Road in Benapole Municipality of Jashore from Sunday due to the alarming ascent of Covid-19 cases in the area. Shops and markets in the area declared a ‘red zone’ have been closed. Police patrol is going on in full swing.

Strict implementation of lockdown is ongoing in the area, as people who go out of their house are interrogated by the police. If residents of the area go out without any proper reason, the police are sending them back home.

Sharsha Upazila Assistant  Commissioner (Land) Khorshed Alam Chowdhury said the district administration and health department had issued an order declaring the high-risk areas of the upazila as 'red zones' to prevent coronavirus infection. People who go out for no reason are being sent back to their home. He said legal action would be taken if the government instructions were not followed.

Benapole Municipal Mayor Ashraful Alam Liton said the upazila administration, Benapole Port Police, Bazar Committee and Benapole Municipal Council security personnel on Sunday night declared a complete lockdown in Benapole Municipal Council's 3rd ward Bahadurpur Road.
