Parliamentary team visits dev projects at Mongla Port

A parliamentary party led by Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Shipping Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttom, MP, visited various development projects of Mongla Port on Tuesday.  In the morning, they visited Mongla port channel's outer bar dredging project at the cost of Tk 712 crore in the Hiron point area of Sundarbans.

In the afternoon, the party visited some other development projects including the port jetty and attended a briefing of the port authorities in the conference room of the port building. During the visit Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttom, MP, said that under the dynamic rule of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Mongla Port has now regained its former glory. Now it is considered as one of the capable and active port of the country. 

He also informed that the soil from outer bar dredging project is being transported to Dublar Char so that it does not come back to the bottom of Pashur River.

Among other members of the party, there were Md. Mazaharul Haque Pradhan, MP, Ranjit Kumar Roy, MP, Dr Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, MP, and SM Shahzada, MP. Besides, Chairman of Mongla Port Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad and Senior officials of the Ministry of Shipping and Mongla Port were present at the time.
