Parliamentary standing committee asks to accelerate development works

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Planning Ministry at its fourth meeting on Wednesday asked the ministries concerned to accelerate the ongoing development works across the country. Chairman of the standing committee Abul Kalam Azad presided over the meeting while members Planning Minister M A Mannan, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam, Hafiz Ahmed Majumder, Biren Shikder, Rowshan Ara Mannan, Manjur Hossain and Adiba Anjum Mita were present at the meeting.

The committee elaborately discussed on implementation and progress of the projects run by different ministries for 2018-2019 fiscal years, according to a press release of the standing committee.. The Statistics and Informatics Division (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics) under the Ministry of Planning has been implementing a total of 16 projects. The activities of the projects to strengthen the environment, climate change and disaster statistics have begun on September 1, 2019, the meeting was informed.

Senior secretary of the Planning Commission, Secretary of the Planning Division, Secretary of the Statistics and Informatics Division, among others, also attended the meeting.
