Parliament goes into session on May 2

The second session of the 12th Parliament begins on May 2. 

President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Monday summoned the 2nd session of the 12th parliament exercising the power bestowed upon him as per the Clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution.

The session will begin at 5:00pm, said a parliament secretariat release.

The maiden session of the 12th parliament started on January 30 and prorogued on March 5 after 22 working days. As per a constitutional provision, each session of

 parliament must be convened within 60 days of the prorogation of the previous session. 

Before the beginning of the session, the Business Advisory Committee, headed by the Speaker, will sit to fix the tenure of the session.

Parliament secretariat sources said that the session will be a shorter one as the session has been convened to go by the constitutional provision.

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali will place the proposed budget for 2024-25 fiscal year.
