A Dhaka Court on Monday placed arrested female Mafia don Shamima Noor Papia alias Peu on a fifteen day remand in three separate criminal cases.

After hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masud-ur Rahman passed the remand order, said court sources.
Earlier, Md Kaikobad Kazi, investigation officer of the case filed with the Airport Police Station, produced Papiya and her arrested associates before the court seeking a ten-day remand for each.

However, defense lawyers opposed the remand plea and appealed for their bail. After hearing, the court granted a fifteen-day remand in three cases filed with the Airport Police Station and Shere-Bangla Police Station.

Earlier on Sunday RAB arrested Papiya, her husband Mofizur Rahman alias Sumon Chowdhury alias Moti Sumon, Sabbir Khandaker, and Sheikh Taiyaba, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city.

RAB officials claimed that Papiya forced girls into prostitution. She was also involved in arms and drug trades.
