Riza Akter, the Upazila Social Services Officer of Palash in Narsingdi, has been transferred following allegations of misconduct and harassment towards service seekers. According to an official notification signed by Mohammad Abdul Hamid Mia, Deputy Secretary and Director (Administration & Finance) of the Department of Social Services, she was reassigned on 15 July as a Probation Officer at the Narsingdi Probation Office.
Masudul Hasan Taposh, Deputy Director of the Narsingdi District Social Services Department, confirmed the transfer. Md. Masum Bhuiyan, formerly Probation Officer, will replace her in Palash.
Riza Akter had faced multiple written complaints for misbehaving with visitors and causing delays in services. A departmental investigation committee was formed after national media outlets widely reported on the issue.
