The Pakistan cricket team is now firmly settled in Bangladesh for their three-match T20 International series, with the first encounter set for today (Sunday). Ahead of the series opener, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha addressed a press conference in Mirpur yesterday (Saturday), where he was effusive in his praise for the Bangladeshi side, particularly highlighting their strength in home conditions.
"This is an away condition for us," Salman Ali Agha stated. "Bangladesh are a good team in any ground, any venue, and any country. Especially when they play at home, they are a very good side. We know what challenges might come our way. We are excited to get onto the field and are eager to take on the challenge." His comments underscore Pakistan's respect for Bangladesh's ability to perform on their home turf.
Despite Bangladesh's inability to defeat Pakistan in a T20I for the past nine years, Salman was keen to dismiss the significance of past statistics. "We are not thinking too much about the past, or what has happened in the last nine years," he asserted. "We are focusing on our game.
This series is no exception. We want to take it one match, one ball at a time. If we can win all three matches, we will be very happy." This approach highlights the team's commitment to the present and their desire to maintain focus.
Speaking on his team's capabilities, the Pakistani captain noted the rapidly evolving nature of T20 cricket. "T20 cricket is changing every six months. We want to play our basic cricket. Whichever team comes, we have to play well. We are optimistic about the players we have now.
Two new fast bowlers have joined the squad. They are very promising. I am very optimistic and excited about them." His remarks indicate Pakistan's awareness of the format's dynamic nature and their confidence in the fresh talent within their ranks.
All three T20Is between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, with matches commencing at 6:00 PM local time.
The touring Pakistan squad includes: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, and Sufiyan Muqim.
