We are eagerly waiting for the long-cherished Padma Multipurpose Bridge to open for traffic movement in June next year. It is the largest construction infrastructure since the independence of Bangladesh and the construction work began in December, 2015 with government’s own fund.

We hope people will have no difficulties in crossing the river Padma and they will be able to travel their respective destinations quickly and safely when the bridge will be opened for traffic movement.

Southwestern region will become the

country’s biggest economic zone after

opening of the Padma Bridge

It needs no mentioning that the Bridge will change the entire economic landscape of southwestern Bangladesh. Southwestern people think that the inauguration of the bridge is like a fresh beginning to go ahead with vision and mission.

It is the goodwill of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that has made Padma bridge a reality despite various conspiracies hatched at home and abroad against the construction of this mega bridge. Braving all sorts of hurdles and odds, her government continues to pull the country towards development following the ideology and footsteps of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Reportedly, the progress of the main bridge construction works of the much-anticipated Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project has reached about 94 percent while river training works progress is 83.50 percent. Along with Bangladeshis, Chinese, American, British, Indian and Japanese nationals are working round the clock to open the bridge to the commuters. We believe the southwestern region will become the country’s biggest economic zone after opening of the Padma Bridge.
