He said this while addressing an extended meeting of Dakshin Tarabunia Union Awami League and its affiliates at Sakhipur police station in Shariatpur on Friday and was virtually involved in the recruitment and renewal programme.
He said that the Padma Bridge is a symbol of pride of Bengalis, a symbol of standing with one's head held high. This symbol will inspire Bengalis to move forward at a relentless pace through the ages. The Padma Bridge was our dream. That dream is now real.
It got a lot bigger for us. It is a matter of pride for the people of the country. The Padma Bridge is the product of the Prime Minister's determination and prudence. And this is going to fulfill the long-standing aspirations of the people of the south-west of the country, which is undoubtedly a huge achievement.
He said the implementation of the dream Padma Bridge with the money of the people of the country under the leadership of the Awami League government is the envy of the BNP which they are not tolerating. So they are running various kinds of propaganda. Basically, they don't want the country to be better. They are accustomed to lying and terrorizing. It is not possible to come to power by these. If you want to come to power, you have to go to the people. It is not possible to come to power without the verdict of the people. According to the constitution, the people have to come to power by participating in the elections under the Election Commission.
