Around 3750 meters of the country’s much awaited Padma Bridge is now visible after the installation of 25th span on Friday. Dewan Abdul Kader, executive engineer of the mega project confirmed this to media, saying, “The 25th span of the Padma Bridge has been installed at the Zajira point in Shariatpur on Friday noon.”
The 150 meters long span was installed on pillar no 29 and 30 of the bridge. Kader said of the total 41 spans, until now 25 spans installation have completed so far and rest will be installed in phases gradually by July this year. Earlier, the 24th span of the bridge was installed at Jazeera point in Shariatpur on February 11 while on February 2, the 23rd span of the bridge was installed on the pillar number 31 and 32. By July next year, the Padma Bridge will be opened to traffic, officials hoped.
Meanwhile, construction work of the Padma main bridge has been completed to 85.50 and the work on river training is done to 66 percent. Moreover, the overall progress of the project is completion 75.56 percent work.
