Chairman of Padma Bank Limited, Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, accompanied Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her historic three-day official visit to Brunei, a rich Southeast Asian nation.

Sarafat, who took over the chairmanship of the bank late last year, was part of a high-level business delegate that include top Bangladeshi businessmen and the newly elected president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Apart from joining the premier in important get-togethers, Sarafat also met top businessmen of Brunei in an effort to foster deep economic ties between Bangladesh and the kingdom. He invited businessmen of the rich kingdom to invest in Bangladesh’s booming economy, saying the country has readied some 100 economic zones for foreign and local investors.

A former multinational banker, Sarafat is also the director of the Westin Hotel and Chairman of Canadian international University. He urged Brunei businessmen to invest in Bangladesh’s growing hospitality sector.

He is set to return to the country today (April 24).
