Paddy seedling haat thriving in Brahmanbaria

Aman paddy market has accumulated in Bangrabazar of Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district. Aman paddy planting season has started at this time. These rice seedlings are planted in the land during the months of Shravan-Bhadra, so every day farmers come from far and wide to buy and sell seedlings in this market. The buyers coming to the market say that they are very happy to get the seedlings as per the market demand. Sellers say sales are getting better.

It has been seen from the market that every morning Aman rice paddy market is open in the market. Farmers bring the rice seedlings from their seed beds to the market. Selling at the rate of 70 to 140 Tk each depending on the type.

 Amir Ali, a farmer who came to buy seedlings from Akabpur of Muradgar upazila, said that it was not possible to sow rice seedlings in his area due to various reasons including floods. So I am coming to this market and buying rice seedlings. Farmers are quite happy to get seedlings as per the demand in the market. He said, 'I have come to buy seedlings for two cane fields. The price in this market is within our reach. Shishir Mia, a farmer from Satmora, said, “Vendors bring saplings from different places to the Bangra market. We can also buy seedlings at a low price. That's why he came here from so far."

  Abul Hossain, a seedling seller, said, “Apart from BR-22, 49 and 50 rice seedlings, various rice seedlings including Khasa, Kalijira and Barj Khasa are being sold in Bangra market. Wholesalers are coming from Rachullabad, Ratanpur and taking saplings, farmers are benefiting from this. Solman Mia, another farmer said, "This time the price of fodder is good, for 30 percent of the field, the price starts from 800 taka to 1500 taka".  Farmers of Kasba region also come to this market. Nabinagar upazila agriculture officer Jaglul Haider said - this year the planting area of Ropa Aman is 123 hectares, the area of cultivation is 588 hectares. Of these, Ufshi- 150 hectares; Hybrid - 75ha; Local 363 hectares.
