Meanwhile in Thakurgaon, Paddy procurement drive officially started for the purchase of paddy and rice at the government food godown on Tuesday.
Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun inaugurated the program at the Sadar food godown.
At that time, the food department bought 4,951 metric tones of paddy from 3 farmers of Akcha Union in Thakurgaon Sadar at a price fixed by the government at Tk 26 per kg and 17,200 metric tones of rice at Tk 36 per kg from Monir Hossain, owner of Duibhai Auto Rice Mill in Sadar upazila. Sadar Upazila Food Controller Rais Uddin, Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishna Roy and other administration officials were present at the time.
District Food Controller Babul Hossain said the district would procure 11,309 MT of paddy and 32,867 MT of rice this season. The collection campaign will continue till August 31, 2020.
