In celebration of World Milk Day under the theme “Enjoy the Power of Milk Together,” packaged milk was distributed among 1,200 individuals, including orphans and local farmers, in Jhalakathi on Tuesday morning.
The event was held in front of the District Livestock Office, where the chief guest, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Divisional Director of the Barisal Livestock Department, handed out milk packets to the recipients.
Also present were Dr. Md. Nurul Alam, Principal Scientific Officer of the Livestock Research and Investigation Laboratory in Barisal, and Md. Asaduzzaman, Jhalakathi District Livestock Officer.
Prior to the distribution, a colourful rally was held, starting from the Livestock Office and parading through various streets of the town. Over 500 participants, including livestock officers, employees, and farmers, joined the rally.
An awareness discussion followed at the District Livestock Office, presided over by District Livestock Officer Md. Asaduzzaman. Speakers included Divisional Director Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Principal Scientific Officer Dr. Md. Nurul Alam, Rajapur Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Abdullah, and Nalchity Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Abu Saleh Md. Ifad Ishtiaq.
The event aimed to promote the nutritional value of milk and support both children and livestock farmers in the region.
